What is hair transplantation?

Hair transplantation or hair cultivation is a practice aimed at obtaining natural and healthy hair for people who have experienced or experiencing hair loss due to various reasons (genetics, age, accident, disease, etc.). This application, which is widely preferred in the world and in our country, is performed with two different techniques. These techniques are FUE and FUT.

What techniques are used in hair transplantation?

FUE, the most preferred hair transplantation method in the world, is applied in our centre. FUE technique provides positive results in many ways such as the convenience it provides to the patient, reliability of the transplantation process and success after the procedure.

FUT (Follicular Unit Transplantation) method is an old technology compared to FUE method. There may be scarring and loss of sensation in the area where the hair is removed. Therefore, it is not a preferred practice in our centre. The hair on the strip of hair taken from the nape region of the neck is separated into roots. It is then transferred to the area where the cultivation will take place.

In the FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) method, hair follicles taken individually from the donor area with the help of millimetric surgical devices called as the micro motor or manual punch are transferred to the area where the transplantation will be performed. Today, the most preferred technique for hair transplantation is the FUE technique.

How to do hair transplantation?

Pre-process assessment phase;

Before starting the operation, visuals of the top, side, back and front view of the patient's hair region are requested. After examining the images, the specialist physician and technical team make an assessment of the area where hair transplantation will be performed and the number of possible grafts to be obtained and inform the patient. After the patient's consent, treatment planning is carried out for transplantation.

If the patient lives abroad, information about the processes such as Turkey travel day and time planning, flight tickets, accommodation is given. Visa and passport procedures belong to the patient. (For the visa application, a document is given by our organization in order that the patient will make hair transplantation and for health tourism in Turkey. For this reason, generally there are no problems during the visa process. In addition, our institution has "International Health Tourism Intermediary Institution Authorization Certificate" and "ISO 9001 Quality Management System Certificate" approved by the Ministry of Health.

You can access detailed information about the 3-day treatment process for our international patients on our website.

The process of starting the process;

In this step, some examinations are performed to avoid risking the general health status of the patient. Hemograme, Anti HIV, Anti HCV, HBsAg, APTT, Prothrombin time and similar values are examined by blood sample. If there is no obstacle to hair transplantation, the operation process is started.

The patient is taken to the operation room and wears sterile operation clothes by our institution for hair transplantation. He lies on his stretcher face down.

Since it is a sedated method, the head region is primarily disinfected for local anaesthesia. Anaesthetic drug is applied to the donor area where the grafts will be collected with the help of an injection needle. Then the process starts.

With the help of micro motor / manual-punch, hair follicles (grafts) are collected one by one and put into glass containers.

The collected grafts are examined one by one for preparation in the area to be transplanted and are prepared appropriately for the correct grafts to be removed. There are fat and tissue fragments in the grafts. Therefore, the extraction and cleaning process is also very important.

Channels are opened to place the obtained grafts in the transplanting area. For a natural appearance, it is necessary to pay attention to important points such as the width of the channel to be opened, the angle and direction of the channel. If the channels are not open properly to the scalp, an artificial and aesthetically deprived appearance occurs. As with other steps, expert experience is of paramount importance in this step.

Hair roots are placed in the opened channels and the operation is completed.

What is the processing time?

The average procedure time varies between 4-8 hours depending on the number of grafts (a piece of tissue prepared for transplanting to the balding area for hair transplantation) to be transplanted. Approximately 3,000-5,000 grafts are obtained in practice. Because it is sedated (a method in which the patient is awake and able to relax with sedative medication), it is applied painlessly and smoothly.

What is necessary for healthy hair transplantation?

In order for the transplantation to be performed, the patient should not have a chronic condition that may cause health problems and a problem with blood clotting and the amount of hair suitable for transfer in the donor area between the two ears is required.

Can hair transplantation be done to everyone?

Hair transplantation can be done for both women and men. For female patients, it is primarily necessary to determine the degree of hair loss. In case of hair loss of 50% or more, called male type, hair transplantation can be applied.

What is the success of hair transplantation?

The success of hair transplantation depends on factors such as the quality of the donor area of the patient, the degree of hair loss, as well as it is also closely related to the place of the transplantation, the experience of the physician, the techniques and equipment used, hygiene and sterilization, and support before and after transplanting.

All transplanting operations in our centre are carried out with the help of a professional team, a specialist dermatologist and new technical devices. Especially in operations requiring patient health to be considered a priority, ambient conditions must be sterile. Hair transplantation at the medical centre increases the success rate and protects the patient against possible risk factors.
